INTERPRETATION OF RESULTS

  • Suggested diagnosis: NO GERD. If the sum of all the questions is less than 8 pts.
  • Suggested diagnosis: GERD. If the sum of all the questions is greater than 8 pts and, the score of questions 5 and 6 is less than 3 pts.
  • Suggested diagnosis: SEVERE GERD. If the sum of all the questions is greater than 8 pts and, the score of questions 5 and 6 is greater than 3 pts.

 

 

 

WHEN TO CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR?

 

 

 

It is ideal to go to your doctor if you did the test to see if you have Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) and the suggested diagnosis of GERD or SEVERE GERD.

Other situations4 for which you should see your doctor are:

  • If your burning or burning symptoms in your chest become more severe or frequent.
  • Begin to feel discomfort when swallowing, it can be pain or difficulty.
  • You have had sudden changes in your weight for no apparent reason.
  • You perceive that you have started to have a cough that becomes chronic.
  • You have used medications to control the symptoms of GERD for two weeks or longer, and still have symptoms with the same frequency.
  • If at the time of sleep, you snore or have a choking sensation.
  • If you notice that when coughing there is blood present.
