What is Non-Small CellLung Cancer?¹

First, it is important to know that a cell is the smallest unit of all living organisms; cells form tissues, and tissues, in turn, form the organs of the body.

Lung cancer is one of the most common types of cancer. It can start in any part of the lungs or airways. It occurs when abnormal cells grow uncontrollably. These cells can form lumps, called tumors, which grow inside the lung or spread to other parts of the lung.

There are two main types of lung cancer, which are distinguished by the type of cells where cancer is found:

Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer
(NSCLC)

Small Cell Lung Cancer
(SCLC)

The most common type is Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer, which accounts for more than 87% of cases. Your treatment options depend on the type of cancer.

EGFR makes your lung cancer different²

This is a targeted treatment designed to help prevent lung cancer from returning after surgery (in early stages) or to prevent lung cancer from spreading to other parts of the body (in advanced stages). Both biomarker tests and EGFR mutations helped you and your doctor determine the treatment plan for the type of lung cancer you have.

*For tumors with EGFR exon 19 deletions or exon 21 L858R mutations. EGFR: Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor

What is a mutation?¹

A mutation is a change in a cell’s genetic material. Some mutations are harmless, but some can lead to diseases such as cancer.
